The Stoutest Tree in the World

November 24
Bar in old Oaxaca

From Mazunte we headed back to Santa Marķa del Tule. Balios had to climb back from the see level to almost 2500 m. It took us seven hrs to reach Oaxaca and later Overlander Oasis, the campsite place we visited earlier.

The Tule Tree Montezuma Cypress

The following day we started by visiting, rather unusual place. We went to see a tree. The Tree of Tule is recognized as the one of the oldest and the biggest in the world. It is on the UNESCO list, and being honest, this tree is huge. Based on the information we gathered this Montezuma cypress is over 2000 years old and weights 636 metric tons. The trunk has circumference of almost 138 ft. / 42 meters.
