The Gilder Center is a new space at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Rough, undulating surfaces with vaulted ceilings, elliptical windows and a large outward opening atrium contrast with the traditional museum building from the second half of the 19th century. Spectacular architecture with soaring space reminds me of the quarries in Maresha, Israel. There too, the spaces are high and small openings in the ceiling allow light to penetrate into the interior.
