Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina, Biltmore is undoubtedly the most ambitious private residence of the American Gilded Age. With its 255 rooms and 43 bathrooms it is still today, one of the largest private houses in the United States. The mansion was modeled on the monumental French Renaissance architecture. The characteristic Chateau style features include numerous towers and turrets, steep pitched roofs and rich sculptural ornamentation.
