On the rock coast of the Atlantic Ocean Cornelius Vanderbilt II built the Breakers Mansion, the largest and the most impressive of all holiday homes in Newport, Rhode Island . Built in 1895, the 70-room house was designed by Richard Hunt, American architect famous for his Beaux-Arts architecture creations in North America. Not only French architectural elements were incorporated by an architect. Breakers in some parts resembles Renaissance-style Italian palace. The rooms are decorated in Italian and French styles. The walls and furniture were commissioned in Europe and shipped in pieces to the USA.
