One of New York's parks is set 30 feet/ 10 meters above street level. An old abandoned railway line has been transformed into a linear green space. A walk along the High Line rewards with river and city views. Countless species of plants, grasses, shrubs and trees are planted between the tracks. Some areas are dedicated to art installations. The park is integrated with Hudson Yards, where an unusual structure called the Vessel stands.
In Hudson Yards, the Shed building is worth noting for its movable outer shell. Part of the structure is on wheels and can cover the adjoining plaza. This creates a temperature-controlled hall, ideal for large-scale performances and events.
The honeycomb structure, named Vessel, rises 16 stories high and consists of 154 flights of stairs. Unfortunately, the new facility quickly became the site of many suicides. Young people found Vessel to be the perfect place to take their own lives by jumping from a height.
