New Jersey Atlantic Ocean coastline called Jersey Shore is a popular tourist destination with locals. This nearly 80 miles/ 130 km long continuous stretch of sand beaches is filled with hotels, beach houses and casinos. Jersey Shore was a place of 15 unprovoked sharks shark attacks in the 20th century. The deadliest was year 1916 when 4 swimmers were killed by shark. Those attacks inspired the book and movie "Jaws". One of most recent attacks (probably by great white shark) happened in New Jersey in June 2005.
