This is the largest Alpine Lake in North America and the second deepest in the United States. The lake is completely surrounded by majestic mountains and has incredibly clear water. On sunny days you can see bright, vibrant turquoise water.
Lake Tahoe—on California and Nevada state border—lies at an elevation of 1,897 m / 6,225 ft above sea level. In summer you can lie on the sandy beach here, but swimming is for the bravest. The water here is always ice cold. There is a lot of snow in the mountains in winter. The ski slopes overlook the lake, what makes this place unique.
