Orient Express Station

Built in 1890, the Istanbul Railway Station, which was the eastern end of the world-famous Orient Express, still stands today. The building was designed by a German architect, granite and marble were imported from Marseille, France, and stoves for heating were brought from Austria. Sirkeci Terminal, as it is called today, is an example of eclectic architecture in 19th century Istanbul.
