Pinos, Zacatecas Mexico is the mining town from the colonial era. The most interesting sights here are the old convent of San Francisco and the Church of San Matías. The construction of the latter began at the end of the 17th century and was never completed. The ambitions of the local wealthy people of that time were high, but with the end of the mining prosperity, the funding for the cathedral ran out. An unfinished nave stands here to this day. The church has interesting architectural details such as a baroque reddish stone façade with sculptures of fantastic figures and animals.
