Salt Lake City lies in the northern part of Utah in the USA at the feet of surrounding Wasatch Mountain Range that rise to more than 3,300 meters /11,000 feet. It was founded in 1847 by Brigham Young who led pioneers seeking an escape from persecution. The city is the present-day headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also known as the Mormons. Salt Lake City's Temple square is the center of the Mormon world. This is a place where their first temple was built - today, the Salt Lakes biggest attraction. Unfortunately, for those outside the circle of members of the church entrance to the temple is prohibited.
