Wall Street in Lower Manhattan, New York City is a site of the major American stock exchange and many international financial institutions. The term Wall Street has become a synonymous with the world financial center.
Located at 11 Wall Street The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) building completed in 1903 replaced a modest five-story predecessor on the site. The first Exchange, opened in 1817, was quartered in a rented house nearby. The pediment of current structure, above massive Corinthian columns, holds allegorical statues representing “commerce”.
