Fanal Forest is quite a unique setting with centuries-old trees. When the fog covers the trees with mystical shapes, Fanal becomes a fairytale-like place. It is a real enchanted forest, straight out of fantasy. Walking here, there is no doubt that in this magical environment, extraordinary things can happen. It is a mysterious forest where witches and fairies definitely live.
The Til tree is endemic to Madeira and the Canary Islands. These trees, sometimes referred to as stinkwood, are evergreens with large, showy leaves. Freshly cut Til trees give off an unpleasant smell, hence their common name.
