The extensive Gothic Hradec Castle (Czechia) was built in the 13th century. It replaced a wooden gord from the 8th century. Hradec was the property of the Czech kings until the 16th century, when it was handed over to Rudolf II of Habsburg. Hradec was visited by the celebrities of the cultural world. This place was visited among others by Beethoven and Liszt. The castle was in hands of a Prussian family until 1945. Today the town is called Hradec nad Moravici.
There is a memorial plaque in the castle. It commemorates 1000 years from the meeting of the Czech princess Dobrava with the envoy of the Polish prince Mieszko in the vicinity of Hradec in 965. Soon after, Mieszko I married the daughter of the ruler of Bohemia, sealing the Polish-Bohemian alliance.
