The name of the estate in Książ Wielki in Lesser Poland comes from the older seat of the Myszkowski family in Mirów in Silesia. The construction of the palace according to the design of the Italian architect Santi Gucci, the court artist of Polish King Stephen Báthory, was completed in 1595. It was the estate of the Bishop of Kraków Piotr Myszkowski, one of the most influential people of his era. The building, on a rectangular plan, was based on the east-west axis. In the mid-19th century, the palace passed into the hands of the Wielopolski family. At that time, a third floor was added in the Gothic Revival style
