On a high rock above the Orava River in Slovakia stands a massive Orava Castle, which dates back to the Kingdom of Hungary. It was an administrative center in Orava. The castle stood on an important trade route to Poland. The stronghold protected the then northern border of Hungary.
Three gates along the walls lead to the lower castle. After the third gate is the courtyard of the lower castle and the castle chapel. From here the path leads to the middle castle. It was there that the living quarters were located. Going up through narrow passages and long stairs, you can reach the upper castle located at the very top of an over 100-meter rock.
