The Palacio da Bolsa is Porto’s Stock Exchange. The plain exterior contrasts with the ornate and richly detailed interior. The most unique is the Arab Room, inspired by the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. The hall, in Moorish Revival style, was built to impress visiting dignitaries. The attention to detail is evident. The walls and ceiling are decorated with gilded geometric patterns and Arabic inscriptions. The room with its ornate columns and arches, was a showcase of Porto's wealth and power in the 19th century.
