The wooden churches of the Slovak part of the Carpathians belong to various denominations. They represent local styles of religious architecture influenced by Latin and Byzantine culture. Differences in architecture are an expression of local adaptation to a specific geographical and cultural context. Most of wooden churches have one thing in common, they were built of logs without the use of metal nails.
The 15th century Roman-Catholic Church of All Saints of Tvrdošín retained its late-Gothic character. The entire building is surrounded by low arcades. Massive steep shingled, gable roof descending almost to the ground gives the church a unique character. The most noticeable inside is the painting of St George fighting a dragon.
