Central Java is a place where you can see the old temples. The largest and most impressive are the Borobudur and Prambanan, but there are also many smaller shrines that have been restored and are worth visiting. Buddhism and Hinduism coexisted peacefully in this region in the ninth century, which resulted in many temples that survived to this day.
To move around Java in a rented car is the best option in my opinion. Many visitors choose a car with driver, but I personally prefer the independence and adventure of being a driver myself on the congested Asian roads. Crowded narrow streets, slow traffic, thousands of motorcycles, the lack of road signs are the basic elements of everyday travel in Indonesia.
