Barbados is not a large island. In less than 3 hours you can travel around the entire country. Along the way we visited several beaches and stopped to see the ruins of a hotel, an old cemetery with huge trees, and an abandoned lighthouse. There are no highways on the island, and there are very few trucks on the road. Driving along narrow roads from one village to another, you can feel the atmosphere of the real Caribbean.

We even encountered wild Barbados green monkeys along the way. These small monkeys are clearly afraid of humans, because they disappeared from sight faster than I could take out my camera. They are not native to the Caribbean. They were brought on slave ships from Senegal and Gambia in West Africa approximately 350 years ago.
