Polynesian cultures as a whole, even those on islands separated by thousands of miles, or by many generations presented certain amount of similarity. This is visible in language, legends, songs, dances, and architecture. Stone platforms present the skills of their builders in architectural design. The ancient Polynesians preferred rectangular shapes, proportions in the developed structures, and use of stones of different colors, shapes, and textures. Violence was an ever-present element of the Polynesian cultures. Warfare between tribes was common, in many regions it become the main purpose of the existence. Polynesians had deep spiritual life. Strict customs controlled the daily life of the inhabitants' of the islands of the Polynesian area in the Oceania
